That article is embarrassing. The college students I tutor cannot even add fractions. Believe me, Algebra isn’t the problem here.

It isn’t the math that’s important. Algebra has been shown to improve critical thinking skills that stick even after the math is forgotten.

When I see peers struggling with basic mathematical relationships in science classes, the answer is teach algebra better, not dumb it down.

I agree that algebra as we teach it isn’t needed, but that doesn’t mean the answer is to ditch it. The answer is MAKITY USEFUL/ TEACH BETTER.
